Full Job Description
Internships provide on-the-job training for students in their field of study. Internships can be part-time or full-time and take place over the summer or during the school year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As an AI/ML intern, you'll work with AI engineers and project managers on innovative challenges. You'll receive guidance, learn new concepts, gain practical experience, develop industry knowledge, and build connections. Your team will design a solution for a Machine Learning and Generative AI problem and present your work to AIML leadership. There may be opportunities to publish your work at relevant conferences.

Additional intern duties:

  • Assist in special projects
  • Support business initiatives
  • Job shadowing
  • Learn industry-related skills
  • Attend team meetings

Job Skills:

While not required, having one or more of the following qualifications is beneficial:

  • Proficiency in an object-oriented programming language like Python or Java
  • Familiarity with ML libraries such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
  • Experience with LLM models like GPT and Gemini

Skills Needed:

  • Building and adapting ML algorithms for various applications
  • Crafting and evaluating interactive systems
  • Strong linear algebra and statistics knowledge
  • Collaboration and problem-solving abilities

Applied ML Engineering Internships:

  • Experience integrating research prototypes into production
  • Conducting ethnographic or situated studies on human interaction with technology
  • Designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments
  • Proven publication record in areas like statistics, econometrics, operations research, quantitative marketing, causal inference, time series analysis, stochastic modeling, optimization, and decision theory

In addition to the above:

  • Organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Writing and editing skills.
  • Collaboration in a team environment.
  • Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Education:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science, engineering, data science, applied mathematics, or a related field.
  • Upon completion of the internship, candidates are required to return to their academic institution to continue their education, unless the internship fulfills the final requirement for graduation.

Other:

  • Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. In accordance with ADA policies, reasonable accommodations regarding travel limitations can be provided. Travel will be more common for roles such as Account Executives (25 - 50%), senior leaders (10 – 20%) or Capella Core Faculty (5 – 10%).
  • Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.
  • If offsite or hybrid role, must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.
  • Faculty and Federal Work Study roles require access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including computer, privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.
  • This role may require lifting, however reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with our ADA policies.
  • Must be able to meet critical thinking and problem solving aspects aligned to job duties, as well as effectively communicating with co-workers.
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant. Accommodations related to schedule may be considered.
  • Able to access information using a computer.
  • Other essential functions and marginal job functions are subject to modification.

    $19.50 - $29.75 - Hourly
