General Summary:

The Analytical Development Senior Research Associate independently performs complex experimental procedures designed through collaboration with their supervisor. Works collaboratively with the analytical team providing technical support to achieve program goals within established timelines and demonstrates excellent documentation skills. Independently performs troubleshooting as needed. Reports experimental findings and results to the team in an organized and clear manner. Authors method documents, analytical protocols and reports. Contributes to lab organization and efficient lab functioning.

This individual will help advance transformative medicines treating the underlying cause of serious diseases by contributing to analytical activities for small molecule programs from preclinical through late stage development. Responsibilities include analytical support of process and formulation development activities, including purity and stability characterization of drug substance and drug product, as well as contributing scientifically to the resolution of broader drug development challenges in collaboration with other CMC functions. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of laboratory techniques commonly used in the analysis of pharmaceuticals such as HPLC, GC, and KF.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs, executes, and interprets experiments within SOPs and regulations, with a high degree of reliability and independence
  • Collates and interprets data systematically, and compiles results into conclusions or recommendations for discussions with manager
  • Conducts experimental troubleshooting on a routine basis
  • Maintains accurate laboratory notebooks with inclusion of reference to sources of raw data
  • Prepares clearly defined protocols and written reports
  • Participates in the preparation of presentations and may present experimental results and conclusions at internal department or Project Team research meetings
  • Contributes collaboratively to team goals, providing technical support where needed

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of HPLC, KF, GC, and other techniques commonly used for pharmaceutical analysis
  • Proven technical proficiency and demonstrated skill in designing, executing and interpreting experiments
  • Uses own judgment to execute follow-up experiments, including troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated understanding of analysis and interpretation of complex experimental data with proficiency in problem solving and protocol refinement
  • Effective communicator (written and verbal)
  • Emerging knowledge of regulatory guidance for analytical development
  • Ability to create and support a productive laboratory environment

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or related discipline and 4+ years of experience in analytical development program or other analytical support function, or
  • Master's degree (or equivalent degree) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or related discipline and 0-2 years of experience in analytical development program or other analytical support function
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with analytical techniques used for characterization and release assays (LC, GC, KF)

Pay Range:

$72,000 - $108,000

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
