Full Job Description

Are you looking to join a dynamic and engaging educational and professional community with motivated students and innovative colleagues? Boston University School of Law is a leading law school, with an international reputation, dedicated to providing one of the finest legal educations in the world. Since our doors opened in 1872, we have enrolled accomplished students regardless of their race, gender, or religion.

Under the leadership of current Dean Angela Onwuachi-Willig, BU Law is recognized for academic excellence, due to a faculty highly regarded for both scholarship and teaching, as well as a deep commitment to equity, justice, and engagement dating back to our founding. As a highly-ranked professional school embedded within one of the largest research universities in the country, BU Law enjoys access to a wide array of institutional resources.

The Associate Director manages the day-to-day operations of BU Law's Graduate Tax (GTP) and Banking and Financial Law (BFL) Programs in their residential and online formats. This includes, but is not limited to, overseeing registration, course scheduling and exam administration; planning professional development and extra-curricular events; providing academic and non-academic student counseling support; and ensuring that program constituents receive timely and accurate academic and non-academic information about their program.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates the resources to deliver classes and technology-related orientation to remote students, troubleshoots issues, and resolves problems, working with internal and external resources as appropriate.
  • Monitors online student engagement and intervenes when necessary.
  • Communicates program needs to, and monitors work of, outside vendors as needed.
  • Maintains strong understanding of available campus educational technology resources.

The Associate Director supports the GTP and BFL adjunct faculty and oversees the appointment and course evaluation processes. He or she reviews program applications, interviews candidates and tracks applicants' status. The Associate Director is actively engaged in developing marketing, outreach, and yield initiatives to support the GTP and BFL enrollment goals.

The Associate Director is supported by and directly supervises the Assistant Director and Senior Program Coordinator. The Associate Director reports to the Director of the Graduate Programs in Taxation and Banking & Financial Law, and provides support to the Director and the Assistant Dean for Graduate and International Programs. The Associate Director interfaces with relevant State bars and outside organizations, including the American Bar Association Business and Tax Sections and Banking Law Committee, and the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS), as well as individual speakers and panelists, in connection with continuing legal education (CLE) and other conferences hosted by the BFL and GTP Programs.

We are seeking dedicated and creative team players who are committed to professional growth and skill development. Our staff community gathers regularly for all-hands meetings, book clubs, board game lunches, walking challenges, an annual cookie swap, staff luncheon, and end of year BBQ. Boston University is one of the largest private employers in Boston and offers an excellent benefits package, including tuition remission, employee perks like discounted theatre tickets and museum passes, generous vacation and sick leave policies, and competitive salaries. Boston is a global leader in higher education and research, the largest biotechnology hub in the world, and is home to multiple art museums, historical sites, performing arts centers, and championship major league sports teams.
