The Associate Director assists in the management of Graduate Student Life & Leadership operations and is the primary advisor for Graduate Student Clubs and Organizations. Specifically, the Associate Director is responsible for supporting and implementing programs and resources key to the student life experience of Babson Graduate Students; and serving as the primary liaison for issues including, but not limited to, student-led events and navigating available Babson resources for student, faculty, and staff stakeholders of student-led, co-curricular programming and activities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Develop effective student leader advising strategy for graduate student leaders and implement a delivery model for leadership training that can be easily disseminated to and referenced by student leaders throughout the year.
Work closely with the Director to develop co-curricular learning opportunities that meet the needs of graduate students, particularly with regard to the Leadership Lab and other professional development experiences for student leaders; stay abreast of current trends, interests, and skill gaps for our graduate students in order to effectively guide the development of these experiences.
Manage and administer the graduate school workshop program. This includes meeting with the Senior Director for Graduate Student Services and others on a regular basis to set and assess workshop program goals and assisting in the strategic planning and implementation of effective and unique workshop, badge, and upskilling development and improvement. May include supporting work on contracts and budgets for workshops, etc.
Together with the Director, manage the onboarding of new students to Graduate Student Life and Leadership and co-curricular opportunities at Babson. Support the overall execution of new student orientation together with colleagues in Graduate Academic Services
Serve on cross-functional working groups to support and promote innovative work and project management to benefit Graduate Student Services. May serve as project lead as appropriate.
Collaborate with colleagues in Graduate Academic Services to deliver program-specific co-curricular events such as Red Sox night, or all-MBA pub nights.
Oversee and assist the ~30 Graduate Student Organizations with program development, budgeting, service coordination, communications, and vendor relationships. Advise student groups with regard to campus risk management policies and procedures.
Oversee the allocated budget for the Graduate Student Organizations and work with the Graduate Student Council VP of Finance to manage the disbursement of funds, which will include on-line purchases, check requests and requisitions.
Liaise with other campus offices working with Graduate Student Organizations and student lead initiatives to ensure that students are using college resources most effectively.
Assist the Director in supporting the Graduate Student Council’s planning and execution of signature Graduate School traditions, such as Formals, Grad International Dinner, Buffoonery (lampoon style variety show), and Grad Week.
Support departmental operations including, but not limited to, regular monitoring of the departmental email account, maintaining the informational displays in Olin Hall, and facilitating communications to graduate students from other College departments.
Manage online, third party systems and accounts utilized by Graduate Student Life and Leadership. These include web hosting services for Grad Student Organizations, ticketing systems, email management accounts, etc.
Participate in the strategic planning and implementation of programs, activities, and events offered by the Office of Graduate Student Life and Leadership and the Graduate School. These currently include Founders Fest, Orientation, First Night in Olin and Last Night in Olin, Grad Chill, Friendsgiving, Grad Rejuvenation and other stress relief activities.
Serve as a secondary liaison to critical student life offices across campus, including but not limited to Student Affairs, Campus Life & Housing, Disability Services, Public Safety, and Academic Services.
Serve as representative to various committees that concern student life at the graduate school, as required.
Manage the Office of Graduate Student Life and Leadership in the absence of the Director.
Assume additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
Master’s Degree in Higher Education, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in higher education
Must have excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Must have strong creative thinking skills and a willingness to explore new approaches to familiar tasks.
Demonstrated effectiveness in working with a diverse student body, faculty, staff, and other constituents
Strong communication skills are essential; must be able to communicate with people of diverse backgrounds from the general public, all levels of college, and the business community.
Ability to handle multiple projects with frequent deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Flexibility and willingness to assume new tasks and special projects.
Ability to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; take thoughtful risks; and accept new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.

Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE
Prior experience working with student clubs and organizations is a plus, as is experience working with adult learners, graduate students, and/or primarily commuter populations.
