Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development seeks a full-time Associate Director of Marketing & Communications to support the planning and execution of digital marketing, social media, and communications efforts that promote the college’s visibility and drive enrollment in alignment with both the college’s and Boston University’s brand. The Associate Director collaborates with graduate enrollment team members, university partners, and external vendors to develop effective, goal-oriented marketing strategies and campaigns.
The Associate Director brings a strong foundation in digital marketing, content creation, and strategic project coordination; and has the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, takes initiative, and is skilled in utilizing data to navigate complex problems and develop effective marketing strategies. Staying current with marketing trends, tools, and measurement strategies is essential, as is experience managing integrated campaigns across digital platforms.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications, this full-time hybrid position is based on the Boston University Charles River Campus and is eligible for the University’s comprehensive benefits program for staff.

Essential Functions:
- Digital Marketing
- Proactively collaborate with Graduate Recruitment & Admissions and external digital marketing agency to execute a full-funnel enrollment marketing strategy.
- Identify and evaluate marketing channels and engagement strategies for target audiences.
- Design and develop multimedia assets and write content for use across platforms and channels.
- Define, track, and optimize for KPIs across platforms and channels to ensure campaigns are effective.
- Social Media
- Develop and implement a social media strategy for the college.
- Lead the development and execution of multichannel campaigns that align with BU Wheelock’s brand. Assess and incorporate emerging trends and industry best practices.
- Oversee and report on engagement across platforms.
- Brand Management and Graphic Design
- Contribute to multimedia content development, including graphic design, photography, and videography.
- Serve as in-house brand and visual identity expert, providing guidance and direction on best practices to the college’s staff, faculty, and student workers.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update website content, including page creation and design, navigation, maintenance, and SEO.
- Supervise and mentor student workers (undergraduate and graduate).
- Other duties as assigned, including assisting with procurement and project management.
Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications. marketing, or related field, with 5+ years of related work experience.
- Proven Ability to create and manage content for digital campaigns, websites, email, and social media.
- Experience using digital advertising and social media platforms to support outreach or enrollment goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to write, edit and produce written content.
- Familiarity with performance tracking tools such as Google Analytics. email, marketing dashboards, and social media insights. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, HTML, and MailChimp (or similar platform)
- Demonstrated skills in photography, video editing, and graphic design (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education marketing is strongly preferred.
- Experience creating multimedia campaigns and using Sprinklr or similar social media management platform.
- Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems and search engine optimization (SEO).
- Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate multiple priorities with attention to detail.
- Experience mentoring or supervising student workers or interns.
Work Modality:

Compensation:
- The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 annually. This range is based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and the overall scope of the role.
