Guns Down America is a national campaign to take back public life from the gun industry. We engage corporations, champion consumers, and change minds to take back the places where we live, work, and play from guns and the threat they pose to our safety and our nation's security. We are recruiting a Director of Research and Storytelling to help bring our mission to life by creating and distributing original research that blends data with narrative writing
to help achieve our strategic communications goals.
This role will be responsible for developing thought leadership and original stories from the intersection of gun violence and the gun industry. You will investigate the gun industry, tell stories from impacted communities, and create new links between the economics of the gun industry and its impact on society. The successful candidate must be adept at collecting, analyzing, and managing data in addition to planning and executing field research.

As the Director of Research and Storytelling you will be responsible for:
Project Management and Strategy (80%): Lead the planning and execution of research-driven storytelling projects from
conception to completion, setting strategic goals for each project that align with Guns Down America's vision.
- Managing the collection and curation of content for our bi-monthly magazine, The Hollow Point.
- Authoring 5 pieces of longer-form research annually (2,000+ words) for publication in The Hollow Point.
- Directing activities of the research team and partnering with the Director of Engagement on campaign
strategy. - Overseeing management and data collection for a globally unique set of data related to the small arms
industry; conceptualizing and developing storylines about the gun industry that further strategic
communications goals.
Community Engagement (20%): Engage with Guns Down America's audience and stakeholders to gather stories,
feedback, and distribute content.
- Partnering with the engagement team to collect and curate personal narratives and compelling content for
Giving Up The Gun. - Representing Guns Down America in coalitions and with media organizations as needed.
- Partnering with the Director of Engagement and media team to set and achieve strategic communications
goals through research output.
