Job Description
Join us as we transform immunology and deliver medicines that help autoimmune patients get their lives back. argenx is preparing for multi-dimensional expansion to reach more patients through a rich pipeline of differentiated assets, led by VYVGART, our first-in-class neonatal Fc receptor blocker approved for the treatment of gMG, and with the potential to treat patients across dozens of severe autoimmune diseases.
We are building a new kind of biotech company, one that maintains its roots as a science-based start-up and pushes our commitment to innovate across all corners of our business. We strive to inspire and grow our company, our partnerships, our science, and our people, because when we do, we deliver more for patients.
Job Title: Director of Early Pipeline & Corporate Strategy
Location: Boston (US) or Ghent (Belgium) | Remote possible
Reports to: Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy
About argenx
argenx is a global immunology company committed to developing innovative therapies that improve the lives of people with severe autoimmune diseases. With operations across Boston, Ghent, Japan, Canada, and the broader EMEA region, we work according to our shared values of collaboration, empowerment, humility, innovation, and excellence.
At the center of our early-stage R&D engine is the Immunology Innovation Program (IIP)—a strategic platform designed to identify and translate novel antibody-based discoveries into meaningful clinical opportunities. The IIP builds on partnerships with leading academic institutions and biotech innovators to explore targets with strong scientific rationale and therapeutic potential.
We take pride in our patient-first approach and believe that real impact starts with listening. Our community initiatives—including MG United, ShiningThroughCIDP, and the award-winning A Mystery to Me docuseries—reflect our dedication to understanding and supporting the lives of patients and caregivers.
The Opportunity
The Director of Early Pipeline & Corporate Strategy plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our IIP and aligning early R&D initiatives with broader corporate objectives. This position also contributes to high-level portfolio strategy, long-term forecasting, and the assessment of business development opportunities.
This is a high-visibility, cross-functional role that bridges science and strategy. You’ll work closely with leadership and global stakeholders across R&D, corporate development, clinical, commercial, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
Early Pipeline Strategy (IIP)
- Build business cases for early IIP opportunities across immunology indications.
- Provide strategic input into discovery-stage efforts and target prioritization.
- Integrate IIP portfolio insights into long-range planning and development roadmaps.
- Develop frameworks to assess translational and commercial potential of early-stage assets.
- Track competitive landscape and scientific trends to inform early investment decisions.
Corporate & Portfolio Strategy
- Support portfolio reviews and cross-functional prioritization.
- Conduct scenario planning and risk/benefit analysis to inform pipeline decisions.
- Contribute to the company’s strategic planning and long-term corporate vision.
- Lead valuation and forecasting models across therapeutic areas.
- Collaborate with commercial and HEOR teams to understand unmet need and opportunity spaces.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Science, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Business Development, and Finance teams.
- Contribute to strategic evaluations of external partnerships or acquisition opportunities.
- Help embed strategic frameworks for consistent, data-driven decision-making.
About You
- 8–12+ years of experience in biotech/pharma strategy, strategic finance, corporate development, or consulting.
- Advanced degree in life sciences or an MBA with strong scientific fluency (Immunology background preferred).
- Experience working with early-stage pipelines and scientific uncertainty.
- Strong analytical and modeling capabilities with the ability to distill complex inputs into clear recommendations.
- Strategic thinker with excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Comfortable operating in a dynamic, cross-functional, and global environment.
- Proven ability to lead through influence and foster collaboration across diverse teams.
What We Offer
At argenx, we believe in building careers—not just roles. You’ll join a human-sized, mission-driven organization where you’re empowered to think independently, challenge norms, and contribute to bold science.
We offer:
- Competitive compensation and benefits
- A flexible, inclusive work environment
- A values-based culture focused on innovation, integrity, and impact
At argenx, all applicants are welcomed in an inclusive environment. They will receive equal consideration for employment without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability, or any other applicable legally protected characteristics. argenx is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
