THE ROLE
The Email Marketing & Technology Consultant possesses in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in email execution and marketing automation and an acute attention to detail. Partners with key stakeholders to influence and contribute to the email strategy and to the design and execute email touchpoints, often contributing input based on best practices and metrics from previous email performance. Knowledgeable in segmentation and audience creation. Effectively manages all aspects of email execution from the point content is created and audiences are developed.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Partners with key stakeholders to influence, contribute to, and evolve Email Strategy using metrics and data from past campaigns to drive enhancements. Provides specific recommendations on overall strategic direction.
Ensures strategies and tactics can be implemented within the marketing automation platform in an efficient and timely manner and communicates to counterparts if a tactic cannot be implemented in the tool.
Works with the Digital Marketing & Technology Manager to design and build email touchpoints, ranging from a one-off touch strategy to an integrated customer journey within the marketing strategy, including the incorporation of a robust test plan, where appropriate.
Builds email audiences and understands basic segmentation strategy. Provides recommendations on changes to and usage of segmentation.
Continually evaluates the efficacy of the email execution process. Proactively offers suggestions on re-engineering the process, as needed. Educates others on the email process and the appropriate roles and responsibilities across all stakeholders.
Tireless advocate of best (and avoiding worst) practices across the email channel. Will share these up, down, and across all levels and MFS email platform users. Regularly educates others on these practices in both formal and informal settings.
Continually keeps abreast on latest trends and technology that impacts the industry.
Day-to-day user of the email and Marketing Automation tool to integrate data and content to create impactful email communications, spanning the spectrum from one-off campaigns to triggered emails to complex multi-version, multi-touch communications. Is the Subject Matter Expert on this platform.
Able to employ marketing automation tactics guided by objectives within the business plan.
Partners with the technology team to implement improvements to the platform.
Stays up to date on the vendor landscape in this space as well as possessing a thorough understanding of the platform enhancements and release schedule employed by MFS' current partner.
Works with the Sales Enablement team to help integrate marketing engagement data into the sales process.
Has beginner to intermediate level experience with HTML coding and email design. Able to update existing HTML and build simple templates.
Displays and leads by example, an enthusiastic adherence to QA. Designs new QA tactics, where appropriate and ensures others across the team are also performing required QA and understands their role in the QA process.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 5-6+ years of experience in email, digital marketing or marketing operations, preferably within or servicing financial services or a digital agency.
Experience working with an email and marketing automation tool. Specific experience with Adobe Campaign, Marketo Engage, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement or Pardot, a plus.
Exposure to a CRM tool such as Salesforce.
Proven knowledge of email marketing best practices.
Strong organizational and time management skills with a focus on quality and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while consistency meeting deadlines.
Solid interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal); ability to interact successfully with individuals at all levels.
Positive, collaborative, flexible disposition with the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
Customer oriented with a commitment to proactive problem solving; ability to implement sound judgement and to handle escalated situations.
Other requirements include PC operating systems and the standard suite of MS Office software. Some knowledge of HTML and content management tools is preferred as well.
