Summary

This position is located in the U.S. Mint in Washington, DC, Manufacturing Division. As a General Engineer, you will direct project management activities related to execution activities involved with the acquisition, design, development of specifications and standards, equipment layout, planning and installation, commissioning, training, life-cycle engineering and integration, quality, testing and evaluation, logistics and procurement aspects for tooling, and systems of major size.

Duties

As a General Engineer, you will:

  • Be responsible for the planning, development, direction, execution, and implementation of complex manufacturing and engineering processes, methods, standardization and procedures on plant systems
  • Demonstrate mastery in planning and conducting engineering work and establishing specifications and procedures from scratch for existing, new and/ or unusual projects, based on limited or incomplete information from supported field-site production Divisions (customers) or where large blocks of data are controversial or unknown
  • Possess expert and demonstrated mastery of computational analyses theory and techniques of failure modes for manufacturing systems
  • Serve as multi-production Division technical expert in filling in any technical/ informational/ project gaps by utilizing expert knowledge of manufacturing and packaging systems and program management techniques
  • Assess the capabilities of the United States Mint in terms of engineering skills and time available to undertake work of given scope and nature
