We are looking for a dynamic and empowering Medical Affairs leader to oversee all US Medical Strategy and tactics for both our in-line and future neuromuscular indications across Vyvgart and multiple advancing pipeline assets. The Medical Affairs NM TA lead will report into the Head of US Medical Affairs and Evidence Generation. This role will provide medical leadership and expertise to all Medical Affairs activities and to cross-functional activities within the NM TA, including leading medical strategy and field medical teams, leading strategic planning and tactical execution, and furthering the US Medical Affairs mission to maximize patient outcomes by setting and continuously advancing the evidence-based medical standard of care. Additionally, this individual will provide critical leadership to the overall NM TA global development portfolio bring real life HCP and patient perspective.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead team of medical directors and field medical teams with accountability for the development and implementation of the Medical Affairs strategy, plan and activities within the NM TA (various disease such as MG, CIDP, Myositis, MMN, etc), aligning with cross-functional colleagues including Global Medical Affairs, Marketing, Market Access, Patient services, Global Clinical Development, Global Clinical Operations, Neuromuscular Expert etc.

  • Ownership in leading, developing and maintaining the highest scientific and medical expertise with all diseases and products/assets within the NM TA

  • Proactively drive the identification and development of productive collaborations with clinical experts, KOLs, other important customers and stakeholders, including professional organizations for evidence generation, communication and insight generation

  • Lead NM teams to initiate and support high impact medical activities, such as advisory boards, congress symposia, hospital formulary meetings, speaker development programs and payer market access education focused on changing outcomes in patient care

  • Support the development and execution of publication plans, aligned with scientific communications, to ensure timely and impactful data dissemination

  • Identify and implement appropriate high-impact medical research projects to support the business objectives, including argenx sponsored and investigator-initiated projects, post-hoc analysis and clinical collaborations

  • Coordinate the implementation of medical affairs practices, and systematic information gathering to assess new indications, the treating community, patient pathways, diagnostic practices and management strategies in relevant disease areas

  • In conjunction with clinical development and operations support clinical study development, feasibility assessment, initiation and ongoing management to achieve recruitment and study objectives

  • Be an organizational leader and develop collaborative relationships with cross functional teams in US and globally

  • Foster an inclusive and empowered team environment within NM TA medical affairs, including with Scientific Communications, HEOR, Medical information, Medical Operations and field-based Medical Research Liaison Team, ensuring strategic and tactical alignment

  • Support cross-functional teams to ensure operations are patient-focused, including rapidly responding to internal and external requests and provide medical affairs support to all stakeholders

  • Accountability to attend national and international scientific meetings and congresses to gather intelligence, assist personal education, ensuring to utilize these opportunities to develop relationships with important customers as well as deliver an impactful congress presence for argenx

  • Conduct and provide medical leadership to training programs to field-based teams and other functions and prepare staff to handle interactions with customers

  • Systematically capture, distill and proactively communicate key HCP/KOL insights and activities within argenx and Senior Management

  • Ensure medical accuracy of Medical Affairs activities, including advisory boards and scientific expert meetings, studies, publications, scientific congress activities, medical education, medical information content and medical field programs

  • Ensure all medical affairs activities maintain the highest standards, comply with applicable pharmaceutical regulation, as well as argenx policies and procedures

Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated empowered leadership across medical strategy and field medical teams, and significant people leadership experience

  • Track record with multiple examples of strong talent development in prior Medical Affairs leadership roles

  • Strong resume demonstrating intentional cross-functional collaboration with key stakeholders including Global Medical, Marketing, Market Access, Clinical Development, and Science/Discovery

  • Ability to develop and maintain a high level of knowledge in complex disease areas, treatments and clinical development plans

  • Experience in leading the development, communicating and implementing an outcomes focused comprehensive medical affairs plan including tactics, evidence generation, communication, and KOL collaboration

  • Critical, creative, strategic and proactive thinking

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and presentation

  • Detailed understanding of regulations and practices, including related to industry interactions with healthcare professionals and product access

  • Willingness to travel, approximately 40% of time

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • MD, PhD or PharmD with significant team leadership experience

  • 10+ years of industry experience

  • Expert in US healthcare dynamics including patient journey, access, regulatory requirements and compliance/ethics

  • Experience in neurology, immunology or rheumatology and/or specific biopharmaceutical industry experience required


Preferences:

  • Rare disease experience desirable

  • Medical Affairs, Clinical Practice and/or Clinical Development Experience in Neurology preferred
