JOB CLASSIFICATION MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
Principal Job Content:
Perform routine and diversified work involving repairs to, and maintenance of buildings and outside areas. This work requires the various skills found in the trade classifications of carpenter, electrician, plumber and mason. Typical examples of this work are as follows:
• Minor carpentry including window repair. The replacement of locks and wood molding, cabinet repair and the hanging of doors_
• Minor plumbing including the replacement of garbage disposal units, unplugging blocked drains, repair and replacement of faucets and the replacement of sink elbows and minor repairs to heating valves and pipes.
• Minor electrical work including the replacement of wall switches and receptacles, installation of lighting fixtures, running of wires and installation of junction boxes. Minor repair of stoves and refrigerators.
• Minor masonry work including cement work required for the patching of walks, steps and driveways. Patching of plaster in ceilings and walls, Repairing of ceramic tile and brick and masonry walls_
Skill/Knowledge:
Working knowledge and manual skills in the various trades. Ability to read blueprints, drawings, specification, schematics, technical documents, and standards. Familiarity with the practices, tools, methods and materials of the trades.
