Qualifications:
The Maintenance Worker I performs all tasks assigned pertaining to facility maintenance, janitorial services, grounds keeping, and general maintenance operations.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
FACILITY MAINTENANCE: The Maintenance Worker I performs a wide range of duties pertaining to all agency facilities, including all aspects of building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, heating, carpentry, and any repairs required to agency property and equipment. Snow removal, landscaping, parking lot and driveway maintenance are included as well. Performs assigned tasks to ensure compliance to local and state codes and requirements. Works with the Manager towards short- and long-term goals, as well as performing all preventive maintenance work required.
JANITORIAL DUTIES: The Maintenance Worker I performs all aspects of facility cleaning, housekeeping, and janitorial duties, as assigned. Including basic tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sweeping, and garbage removal.
GROUNDSKEEPING: The Maintenance Worker I performs all aspects of groundskeeping for agency facilities, as assigned. This could include snow removal, spreading sand and salt, mowing grass, raking, trimming shrubs, plants, and trees, planting flowers, leaf removal and other landscaping projects assigned. Must have knowledge of tools and equipment required and the ability to operate power equipment. Must be familiar with lawn and garden chemical applications.
MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS: The Maintenance Worker I assists the Manager with the overall operations of the department, as directed. Works closely with other department staff during the course of their work. Uses skills and experience to expedite maintenance requests and special projects. Performs paperwork, record keeping and inventories, as required. Monitors and recognizes fire and safety issues pertaining to each facility. Works with the Manager towards maintenance operations short- and long-term goals. Must be physically able to lift heavy objects, work from high places off of ladders, and have knowledge of operating all types of hand tools and power equipment. Involved with agency transportation, vehicle inspection and maintenance, as directed. Available for overtime, as needed. Full time employees will provide beeper coverage and 24-hour availability for emergencies when scheduled or on call.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience or knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, basic computer skills, knowledge of operating all types of hand tools and power equipment, janitorial duties, snow plowing and mowing preferred, however, willing to train the right person.
