Job Description
Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking to hire a Senior Manager, Patient Educator in the Atlanta area, to join our growing team. This Patient Educator will report to the Director, Patient Educator and is responsible for providing people living and affected by sickle cell disease (SCD) and beta thalassemia (BT) with education, tools, and resources that helps them have meaningful discussions with their healthcare providers. This team will also provide information about Vertex products. Patient Educators will contribute to the U.S. local market strategy, and coordinate/execute the patient/caregiver tactical plan.

The candidate would ideally live in the Atlanta or Nashville area, but covering SC, NC, GA, AL, IL, KY, TM and IN.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Co-develop and execute the commercial brand strategy and tactical plan within a specified local market in coordination with Marketing and Advocacy teams, among others.
Participate in territory/division/regional account planning and provides input into local market decisions and resource needs.
Upon product approval, provide patients and caregivers with approved product resources using approved materials.
Conduct community and patient educational needs assessments to refine and develop appropriate patient education and resources.
Provide insights that inform marketing team strategies and development of patient marketing materials that address patient and Vertex objectives.
Model and act as a catalyst of Vertex policies and values.
Knowledge and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or greater required
Minimum 6 years of experience in a clinical setting, conducting healthcare education, patient education, social services and/or biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
Rare disorder and/or transplant center experience or knowledge preferred.
Demonstrated ability to develop deep and effective working rapport and compliant consultative relationship with patients and caregivers, as well as internal teams
Strong and inspiring written communication skills, presentation delivery, cross-functional collaboration, and interpersonal skills to be effective in a team environment. Demonstrated organizational and project management skills
A solid compliance mindset and demonstrated integrity on the job
Ability to travel up to 70% of the time
Highly competent in a multitude of IT capabilities to support the business needs

Pay Range:
$126,000 - $189,000Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
