WANTED FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER
Qualified persons are invited to apply to the City of Uniontown Civil Service Commission to take competitive examinations leading to eligibility for appointment as a Full-Time Patrolman for the Uniontown City Police Department. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Candidates, at the time of application must: (1) Possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma (GED); (2) Be Act 120 Certified under the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Act (Act 120), or shall have successfully completed Act 120 Training and successfully passed the final exam, or shall be enrolled in Municipal Police Academy (Act 120), (NOTE: Upon completion of the testing and background process, the list of eligible candidates will be certified. At that time applicants must be certified through Act 120 to be included in the list of three of eligible candidates which will be presented to council. Should an applicant not be certified through Act 120 they may remain on the list but be ineligible for appointment. Once Act 120 certification is obtained the candidate may then take their place on the list and be eligible for future appointments). (3) Be a United States Citizen; (4) Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer; (5) Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; and (6) Possess valid motor vehicle license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Currently there is no residency requirement to be a police officer in the City of Uniontown. Successful applicants must also meet all the requirements of the City's Civil Service Rules and Regulations that will include a background investigation, and if selected, be required to successfully pass a physical and psychological examination.
Starting salary during the probationary period is $26.44 per hour. Benefits include Dental, Vision, Medical and Retirement. Officers after one year of service also receive (15) Sick Days, (10) Vacation Days and (7) Personal Days annually. Officer may retire after 20 years of service with no age restriction.
A completed application must be filed before 4pm on February 14, 2025. Testing for the applicants will take place on one single date to be announced. The physical agility test consists of 300-meter run, sit-ups and push-ups, which are based off the Cooper Standard 30th percentile for your age and biological gender. Upon completion and passing of such. test; only those applicants will be eligible to take the written exam and oral boards. An Equal Opportunity Employer
