The Portfolio Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating a portfolio of projects spanning various disciplines, including machine learning (ML) engineering, data science analytics, software engineering, and geographic information systems (GIS). This role ensures alignment with organizational goals, manages interdependencies, optimizes resource allocation, and drives project outcomes like margin goals and on-time delivery. The Portfolio Manager will serve as a central point of communication and accountability, facilitating seamless collaboration among diverse teams and stakeholders.

What you’ll do:
- Portfolio oversight: Manage and monitor a portfolio of ongoing projects to ensure processes are effective.
- Cross-functional coordination: Facilitate communication and collaboration between multiple teams (client success, ML engineering, data science, software engineering, GIS) to manage interdependencies and handoffs effectively.
- Resource optimization: Assess resource needs across projects and advise leaders on allocating resources strategically to address capacity constraints and ensure optimal project execution.
- Risk management: Identify potential risks and issues across the portfolio, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure proactive risk management.
- Performance monitoring: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor project progress, outcomes, and overall portfolio health.
- Stakeholder engagement: Engage with stakeholders at all levels to provide updates, gather feedback, and ensure stakeholder needs are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Process improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Reporting: Develop comprehensive reports and dashboards to provide visibility into project status, risks, and outcomes for senior leadership and stakeholders.
What will make you a good fit:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Ideally 4 to 7 years of proven experience in portfolio management or project management, particularly in environments involving ML engineering, data science, software engineering, and GIS.
- Skills: Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Jira).
- Certifications: PMP, PgMP, or similar project management certifications are highly desired.

The budgeted salary for this position is $90,000 to $110,000 USD + annual bonus up to 8%. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
This role will be 100% remote, however occasional travel may be required depending on role and responsibilities.
