Job Description
The Process Chemistry Senior Scientist is a highly motivated, scientifically driven and enthusiastic individual who will design and develop chemistry on a synthetic project while conducting laboratory experiments to enable the delivery of compounds to support toxicology studies, human studies, and technical transfer information internally and to contract research organizations externally. This individual may develop new chemistry, improve existing chemistry and demonstrate such chemistries by delivering compounds at expected purity and batch size for the appropriate phase of development.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs reactions monitoring using a variety of analytical methods and work with analysts to develop sufficient methods
- Generates effective hypotheses to pursue synthesis or manufacturing goals and set new experimental direction
- Understands and develops synthetic plans for synthesis development of molecules
- Provides technical recommendations within the company regarding process chemistry by assisting other chemists in Process Chemistry and Development and/or articulating issues to upper management
- Makes conceptual contributions to development activities and scientific strategies; introduces some new methodologies and solutions to overcome synthetic and manufacturing obstacles
- Employs new principles and concepts from other fields to promote new progress in synthesis
- Develops familiarity with SOPs and GMPs and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and SOPs
- Contributes to reports and regular updates at appropriate project intervals while maintaining detailed laboratory records
Knowledge and Skills:
- Expanded conceptual understanding of their discipline, informed on relevant literature and aspects of drug development including regulations and compliance
- Ability to provide data suitable for regulatory submissions
- Recognized as a technical source within the department
- Ability to provide informal guidance to new team members and mentor junior team members
- Lab experience for the preparation of synthetic organic compounds
- Experience in purification and data analysis of organic compounds
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex technical/scientific information to others in straightforward situations
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience or a Master's degree with 5+ years of experience or a PhD with 2-5 years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience

Pay Range:
$113,600 - $170,400Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
