As the Rates Analyst, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring that client and matter rate information is harmonized across all systems; in accordance to the engagement framework and outside counsel guidelines. In addition, the Rates Analyst will analyze data to support pricing proposals and matter budgets for attorneys, monitor alternative fee arrangements and provide reports to internal and external stakeholders and support the annual standard rate review process.
What You’ll Do:
• Build and update rate cards and client templates for proposed client pricing arrangements and rate submissions.
• Partners with the FP&A team with updating economic models to project the financial impact of proposed client rate arrangements and staffing models.
• Gather and populate financial data in client RFP templates under tight deadlines; including analysis of existing client and matter level rate information.
• Review and update the billing system to ensure that client and matter fee arrangements are implemented in accordance with the engagement framework and outside counsel guidelines.
• Input financial and non-financial information into the firm’s systems and assess compliance with internal and external budgeting policies.
• Ongoing preparation of client, matter and portfolio reporting; including tracking and analyzing billing write-downs/offs.
• Responsible for analysis of client and matter level rate information; including responding to timekeeper rate inquiries.
• Develop Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards and reporting to ensure data governance and integrity.
• Responsible for working with team on testing and development of user acceptance testing (UAT) pertaining to new BI reporting tools and systems or updates.
• Maintain resources and content on the intranet, collaboration website and document management system.
• Collaborate with billing and finance teams with overall rate related requests.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the eBilling and Rates Manager and by the Director of Billing and Rates Management.
Who You Are:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 3+ years’ experience as a business or financial analyst, management accountant or similar role
• Professional services or law firm experience highly regarded
• Excellent analytical skills and high level of attention to detail
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Advanced MS Excel and Access skills
• Proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint
• Experienced in Business Intelligence (and Business Applications) development
• Ability to protect and maintain confidential and sensitive information
