Full Job Description

A Research Technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Rahm Gummuluru (Supervisor: Dr. Hisashi Akiyama) in the Department of Virology, Immunology & Microbiology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. Our research program focuses on molecular virology, and especially on the pathogenesis of human immunodeficiency virus type 1. The individual will participate in novel research and when able and interested, author publications. Previous technicians have been accepted into top tier graduate programs. Regular tasks will include cell culture, virus stock production, and cell and virus imaging, and basic lab management and organization including ordering, laboratory maintenance, and ensuring compliance of lab safety protocols. Research tasks will include assisting others but also working independently performing a variety of cutting-edge techniques and molecular and cellular virology approaches. The ideal applicant is highly motivated with a strong commitment to excellence, great attention to detail, and works well independently and with others. Experience with techniques used in molecular biology, cell biology, basic protein chemistry is a plus. Position available immediately.

Skills

Bachelor's and 0-12 months years' experience.
