Description
Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Scientist II/III to join our Immunology & Respiratory Disease Research Department in Ridgefield, CT. The successful candidate will develop and execute in vitro cellular assays to understand fundamental biology in immune cells and stromal cells. This work will lead to identification and deeper understanding of new targets and mechanism of actions of drug candidates for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Isolation and expansion of primary cell cultures or cell lines.
- Initiate and complete routine experiments independently and efficiently. Participates in the design and execution of non-routine experiments.
- Independently operates and is responsible for lab equipment. Willingness to develop skills in a broad set of emerging technologies.
- Apply basic scientific principles with minimal guidance. Performs literature searches and extracts relevant information from published protocols.
- Demonstrates the ability to interpret the outcome of experiments and to propose appropriate follow-up. Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics.
- Communicates data effectively orally and in writing. Contributes to writing protocols, procedures, and technical reports; provide input for scientific reports.
- Works in a collaborative manner with other members in the department. Participate in cross departmental project teams when assigned.
Compensation Data
This position, Scientist II, offers a base salary typically between $75,000.00 and $122,000.00 USD. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
Requirements
Requirements for Both Levels
- Culturing primary cells, immune cell isolation, flow cytometry, ELISA, Western Blot, Immunofluoresnce and immune cell-based assays that employ these techniques.
- Significant experience in designing, developing, and implementing immune cell-based functional and biochemical assays.
- Basic knowledge of data analysis and presentation software and ability to communicate results concisely is required.
- Experience with laboratory automation, liquid handling workflows, and programming is a plus.
- Experience with compound screening and pharmacology assays is a plus.
Requirements for Scientist II
- Bachelors Degree with 3+ years experience in related scientific discipline or Masters Degree in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field
Requirements for Scientist III
- Masters Degree with 3+ years experience in related scientific discipline or Bachelors Degree with 7+ years experience in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field
Eligibility Requirements
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
Must be 18 years of age or older.
