As the Senior Financial Analyst, you are a member of Vertex's R&D Financial Planning & Analysis team supporting our Research and Development functions with financial analyses including identification of key value drivers and business key performance indicators (KPIs). You will helps functions achieve their short- and long-term goals through proactive day-to-day decision support. The role ensures relevant functional activities are reflected in company budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning. The role will build analytics and models to aid functional management in decision-making.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
As Senior Financial Analyst your key contributions will be the following:
- Responsible for the development of financial support for the R&D functions, including developing financial models and analytical tools to assist driving strategic decisions.
- Conduct the financial performance management process for assigned functions (i.e., objective setting, tracking budget versus actuals, etc.), including the monthly forecast and reporting processes, with a focus on understanding of the key drivers of short-term performance and communicating the range of possible outcomes
- Conduct headcount reporting, forecasting and planning
- Support the financial planning process (e.g., budget, forecast, long range plan) for assigned functions to provide relevant, forward-looking observations, develop key scenarios, and identify key risks/uncertainties and plans for potential mitigation
- Participate in the monthly / quarterly accounting close for expenses and accruals, including compliance with SOX control requirements
- Work closely with other members of the Finance organization to maintain a continuous improvement mindset and promote strong communication and efficient processes
- Additional duties as assigned, including leading ad hoc projects within the Finance organization, creating operational efficiencies, etc.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Communication skills, both written and verbal: the ability to communicate in an organized and appropriate manner, including running meetings and preparing presentations.
- Analytical skills – ability to analyst financial results and understand how to use this information to impact the business.
- Teamwork – ability to work effectively with others.
- Technical - strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint, Knowledge of Hyperion, comprehensive understanding of accounting and finance principles, financial modeling and valuations with strong financial analysis, interpretation skills
- Solid business acumen and judgment, and knowledge of the company's markets/products and industry trends
- Ability to work independently under general guidance, take initiative and complete tasks to deadlines
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in an analytical discipline
- Typically requires 3-4 years of relevant financial experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in the Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical industry
Pay Range:
$88,000 - $132,000Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
