SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Specialty Pharmacy Chief (Supervisor), coordinates the daily support operations of a Pharmacy Department. Serves as a working functional supervisor or team leader for Specialty Pharmacy support staff. Responsible for supporting Specialty Pharmacy processes and business metrics that enhance patient care, improve capture, integrate technology and initiatives, and align operations.
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit required.
- Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program or institutional/retail pharmacy experience.
- Must currently be a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Massachusetts with an active pharmacy technician license without restrictions from the MA Board of Pharmacy.
- Must currently have an active National Pharmacy Training Certification without restrictions.
- Must complete Certified Pharmacy Technician Continuing Education (CE) credits per calendar year as required by National Pharmacy Technician Certification and in accordance with Pharmacy Staff License Monitoring and Maintenance of Credentials Policy.
- Must not be listed on the Exclusion Database List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) maintained by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG).
EXPERIENCE
- At least 3 years of pharmacy support experience required, preferably with at least 1-2 years of experience in Specialty Pharmacy.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
SKILLS
- Leadership experience with in depth knowledge of area of specialty pharmacy.
- Must possess working knowledge of pharmacy operations.
- Requires knowledge of laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice and patient confidentiality.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills are preferred.
- Must be team oriented and demonstrate excellent customer service skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and colleagues.
- Sound judgment with the ability to work and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Requires knowledge of medication abbreviation and symbols, common dosage calculations, and storage requirements.
- Strong computer skills and is proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook desirable
