Join Goodwin’s Global Operations Team, and make a real impact on a global scale. At Goodwin, we work with some of the world’s most successful and innovative investors, entrepreneurs and disruptors in the life sciences, private equity, real estate, technology and financial industries, and where they converge. As part of the Global Operations Team – all business professionals at the firm – you’ll collaborate with colleagues from varied backgrounds and experiences, fostering an environment where cross-functional learning, networking, and collaboration are at the core of what we do.

Here, we’re not just supporting a law firm; we’re partnering with attorneys and clients to deliver cutting-edge solutions in high-stakes litigation and dispute resolution, world-class regulatory compliance and advisory services, and complex transactions. Our commitment to integrity, ingenuity, agility, and ambition drives us, and we’re proud to have been recognised as the “Best Business Team” by The American Lawyer.

This is your opportunity to grow professionally in a dynamic, global environment, surrounded by forward-thinking peers.

The Sr. Manager of Tax, in collaboration with the Director of Tax, ensures the firm meets its global tax compliance obligations and develops strategies to minimize taxes and enhance the firm's worldwide tax position. Aligned with firmwide transformation initiatives, this role will lead the modernization and automation of the tax department, driving meaningful change, streamlining operations, and enhancing overall efficiency. The selected candidate is expected to succeed the Director upon their planned retirement within the next 2 to 3 years.

This role also manages the overall partner tax allocation process, including calculation, reconciliation, collection, and communication of partner tax obligations. Additionally, the Sr. Manager will develop, train, and support tax team members to promote engagement and fulfillment within the Goodwin Tax Team.

What You Will do:

  • Manage the entire process of tax calculations and filings, including US and international, federal and state partnership and entity-level estimated taxes and returns, composite taxes, and Section 1446 withholding and reporting.

  • Ensure tax compliance and reporting for the company’s global operations.

  • Interface with external tax advisors.

  • Manage responses to notices and information requests from tax authorities, oversee tax audits, and proactively identify adjustments.

  • Respond to partners’ tax-related questions, liaising with their personal tax advisors as necessary.

  • Conduct research on complex tax issues, document conclusions in memos, and present findings to management.

  • Stay knowledgeable on transfer pricing, Pillar Two, and base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS).

  • Keep abreast of current tax laws, regulations, and practices; identify changes impacting the business and communicate them to management.

  • Identify and implement timely, cost-effective tax planning strategies to enhance the firm’s overall tax position.

  • Manage the process of partner tax allocation and collection, including process improvements.

  • Maintain continuous communication with partners to facilitate cash flow planning for tax deductions from compensation.

  • Assist with preparing the firm’s tax budget and forecast during the year.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent. Advanced degree (MST/MSA) or CPA strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of professional corporate or partnership income tax experience.

  • Large firm public accounting experience is desirable.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of global tax matters.

  • Experience with international taxation in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Singapore, and Hong Kong is preferable.

  • Familiarity with transfer pricing implementation, maintenance, and recordkeeping.

  • Legal industry experience is a plus but not required.

  • Strongly preferred experience in partnership taxation.

  • Excellent ability to establish rapport and effectively work with partners, senior management, peers, and professional staff at all levels.

  • Ability to work with all personality styles, emphasizing results in a client-focused/service-oriented manner.

  • Possesses a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.

  • Highly motivated with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

  • Outstanding organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work with minimal oversight.
