What You Will Get To Do:
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database systems in a private cloud infrastructure
- Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime
- Implement and manage database security, including user roles, privileges, and data encryption
- Perform regular database backups and ensure disaster recovery plans are in place and tested
- Apply patches, updates, and perform version upgrades as needed
- Design and manage data replication, clustering, and failover strategies for high availability
- Automate routine database maintenance tasks using scripts or management tools
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, ensuring minimal business impact
- Monitor resource usage (CPU, memory, storage) and plan for capacity scaling within the private cloud
- Collaborate with cloud infrastructure teams to manage storage, network, and compute resources for Oracle databases
- Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures
- Support development and DevOps teams with database provisioning, tuning, and deployment tasks
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) regarding data privacy and retention
- Participate in audits and assist in remediation efforts as needed
- Stay current with Oracle technologies, cloud infrastructure trends, and best practices
What You Will Bring
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Oracle Database administration (Oracle 12c, 19c, or newer)
- Strong knowledge of Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) for backup and recovery
- Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and automation
- Experience managing Oracle in virtualized/private cloud environments (e.g., VMware, OpenStack, Oracle VM)
- Knowledge of database tuning, indexing strategies, and performance optimization
- Proficient in writing and debugging PL/SQL scripts and stored procedures
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Shell scripting, Python) for DBA tasks
- Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery concepts (HA/DR)
- Experience with storage technologies and managing database storage within a private cloud
Security & Compliance Skills
- Strong understanding of HIPAA security and privacy rules, especially around ePHI (electronic protected health information)
- Knowledge of auditing, logging, and monitoring tools to ensure HIPAA compliance
- Familiarity with access control, least privilege principles, and secure authentication methods
- Experience with compliance documentation and assisting in HIPAA audits or risk assessments
Cloud & Infrastructure Knowledge
- Experience working in private cloud environments with infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) or platform-as-a-service (PaaS) models
- Familiarity with cloud orchestration tools and cloud-native architecture concepts
- Understanding of networking and firewalls related to secure database access and segmentation
- Knowledge of storage provisioning, snapshots, and replication in a cloud context
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration and documentation
- Ability to handle sensitive data responsibly and ensure data confidentiality
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a regulated environment
