WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Block Island Education and Outreach Assistant provides support in all aspects of the Block Island Program. The Block Island Education and Outreach Assistant will assist in nature programs and staff the "Nature Hot Spots"; conduct trail maintenance and other stewardship activities; perform office duties; assist in scientific activities and biological monitoring.

The Block Island Education and Outreach Part Time Assistant role will include:

  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends and some evenings.
  • Work requires occasional physical exertion and/or muscular strain.
  • Work involves several disagreeable elements and/or exposure to job hazard's where there is some possibility of injury.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU

Become a force for nature and a healthy planet by joining the Block Island team! We are looking for an excellent communicator with proven ability to deal with the general public in a friendly, outgoing & professional manner. This is a 12-week position beginning on June 9, 2025 through August 29, 2025. This is a part-time position, 21 hours per week. Position salary is $18/hour. Housing may be available.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • HS Diploma or GED and 6 months of related experience.
  • Experience operating landscaping tools in a safe manner.
  • Ability to obtain related licenses or certifications such as first aid, CPR, and driver's license.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Experience or knowledge of natural systems. Knowledge of natural sciences, ornithology and/or botany skills. Experience on boats.
  • Ability to complete tasks within assigned timeframes, possibly in the absence of supervision.

AUTO SAFETY POLICY

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with TNC's Auto Safety Program.

Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.


SALARY INFORMATION

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $17-18.00 per hour for base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
