The Associate Director, Accounting & Analytics is directly responsible and accountable for the overall operation of the Cashier system and University deposits (including cash, check, e-check and credit card deposits to Cashier bank accounts) and manages monthly general ledger bank deposits and clearing account reconciliations. The Associate Director reports to the Director of Accounting & Analytics and supervises the work of one Staff Accountant.
Major duties of this position include:
- Responds to policy questions (ServiceNow, email and telephone inquiries) from BU community and develop, draft, and maintains e-commerce and cashier related policy statements and associated communications on the Financial Affairs website.
- Provides outreach and training to university departments on SAP cashier upload procedures and on credit card processing and any other cashier related topics.
- Assists university departments with issues such as payment processing and technical support.
- Coordinates with business analysts on specification of changes, upgrades and testing of Cashier system.
- Contributes to discussions on SAP systems functionality and makes recommendations for systems changes meant to increase the accuracy and efficiency of department responsibilities.
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 5-8 years of work experience, preferably in a university or customer service environment.
- Intermediate skills utilizing Excel, including complex formulas to acquire, organize, and analyze data.
- Experience in analyzing data to determine relevant conclusions and suggest appropriate actions to management.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize routine tasks and ad-hoc requests.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented, demonstrating accuracy and quality of work output.
- Ability to work (both independently and in conjunction with others) effectively and cooperatively in a small, collegial team environment.
- Self-motivated, proactive, intellectually curious.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with analyzing detailed financial records.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures and federal regulations to advise customers and resolve inquiries.
