The Associate Director, North America Commercial Finance is a key member of the North America Commercial (NAC) Finance Team. This role will lead Financial Planning, Analytics and Reporting processes for the NAC Finance team, managing the full North America P&L for the SVP, Head of North America Commercial. This role will play a critical part in crafting the way we represent the North America Commercial business across the enterprise, considering stakeholders across both Finance and Commercial lines of management, and up to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

This role will also be the direct Business partner to the Canada Executive Country Manager, providing financial direction and strategic insights to enable delivery against short-term and long-term goals, including identification of key value drivers and business KPIs. This role will be a key partner to drive growth and profitability, pricing and reimbursement decisions and maintain a culture of controls and compliance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides financial direction, strategic insight and critical decision-support as the direct Business Partner to the Executive General Manager of the Canada business. Helps to define and deliver against short term and long-term goals, including identification of key value drivers and business KPIs for the Canada market.
  • Leads the financial planning process (budget, forecast, long range plan) across North America Commercial, driving an efficient process with clear deadlines and deliverables to produce a consolidated, cohesive storyline for the business.
  • Runs monthly financial reviews with the SVP, North America Commercial and his leadership team, tracking variances to forecast, potential risks & opportunities, and recommending resolutions for risk mitigation and allocation of resources across the North America P&L.
  • Utilizes data, analytics, and metrics to develop meaningful and transparent consolidated financial reporting across North America functions and markets (US and Canada) to measure business performance and drive forecast accuracy
  • Creates senior-level presentations to communicate regional business performance, strategic insights, key business risks & opportunities, and financial recommendations.
  • Partners within North America Commercial Finance Team and other members of the CFO organization (Global Commercial Finance, Corporate Finance, Accounting, Strategic Sourcing) to ensure there is clear ownership and management of the deliverables to and from those teams, and that Finance services are delivered seamlessly to both the business and Finance Management.
  • Partners with HR on workforce planning; Collaborates with US Medical Finance for full Market P&L reporting
  • Sits on the North America Commercial Finance Leadership Team, supporting ad-hoc projects, identifying and driving process improvements across the team
  • Ensures financial integrity, robust corporate governance and compliance of all financial aspects for areas of responsibility.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics or Accounting required. MBA and/or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in FP&A, Finance or related roles within the biotech, pharma, or life sciences industry, with a focus on manufacturing and technical operations.
  • Expert analytical and financial modeling skills to evaluate a broad range of financial questions.
  • Proven ability to run a process and to create and manage complex budgets, forecasts, and analyses in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and a proven ability to present complex financial insights to senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in leading process improvement and change management initiatives.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving.
  • Expertise with Excel and PowerPoint; Working knowledge of Hyperion or similar enterprise planning tools; experience with business intelligence and visualization tools a plus.
  • Ability to lead and drive change in an evolving business environment, coordinating processes involving large numbers of people, complex systems, and tight deadlines to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Strong business acumen and judgment, and knowledge of the company's markets/products and industry trends.
  • Strong and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues (within or outside of finance) in sharing insights and learnings and partnering to ensure timely execution of project plans.
  • Capacity to understand pharmaceutical sciences, manufacturing, and technical operations to address a broad range of challenges and business issues with the ability to make and facilitate quick decisions.
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mindset, with flexibility and ability to adapt to change.

Pay Range:

$131,200 - $196,800

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:
1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
2. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
