Working independently, the Financial Analyst I, Deduction & Return Management will manage the research, processing, and communication of debits and deduction reconciliations on behalf of USHP. This role is responsible for the accurate pricing and processing of all warehouse & outdated returns, as well as, resolving any invalid data transmitted. The incumbent will communicate regularly with return vendors ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of return EDI data as well as analyze customer deduction behaviors and outdated returns data. This role works closely with the GBSC, Live Site Team, IT, Contracts & DMT on all outdated return functionality & data issues.
This position is responsible for updating all data tables within the ERP system that ensures accuracy of the return processing and escalating issues with internal/external customers as needed to ensure timely resolution of all deduction/return items for AR. You will oversee all credit processing and short pay forms ensuring accuracy, manage AR portfolio of accounts, build and maintain a strong relationship with our key trading partners, as well as provide monthly/weekly financial reporting to customers. You will also manage orders, inquiries, and deductions of a high-profile portfolio of accounts receivable (AR) accounts for the assigned US business unit.
In addition, you will assist other internal departments to identify, diagnose and troubleshoot Order to Cash related issues, protect the financial assets and interests of Boehringer Ingelheim by ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, provide best-in-class technology, reporting, service, and quality to uphold the company's reputation and standards, and ensure compliance with all Audit & IT requirements.

- Drives research and reconciliation of debit memos and deductions taken on payments for US HP. Based on outcome, adjudicates claim by issuing credit, off-setting the deduction, sending bill-for-invalid deduction or a combination of these activities.
- Ensures all necessary documentation is attached to the line item for collection efforts and auditing purposes.
- Works with Trade and the warehouse to escalate and resolve damage/shortage claims being disputed by the Wholesaler.
- Performs reporting & detailed analysis for customers and other internal stakeholders.
- Responsible for the returns EDI process for USHP.
- Researches and resolves all invalid return data in a timely manner with the GBSC, Live Site, IT, Contracts, & Data Management.
- Ensures customer master data has accurate DEA & pricing information.
- Ensures completion of daily pricing audit.
- Responsible for the process of retransmitting EDI data when corrections are needed.
- Responsible for managing any return blocks/tables or other exceptions to the pricing conditions within GBS according to the outdated return policies.
- Works with internal teams on any customer return issue/disputes.
- Analyzes/trends return data on Vendor portals.
- Responsible for communicating regularly with Return Vendors. Reporting & analysis monthly or as requested.
- Responsible to adhere to all outdated return policies & procedures.
- Leads communication within the organization on any issues or concerns of return processing.
- Analyzes deduction and debit memo data to identify trends that may indicate internal problems leading to the deductions (packing, shipping, pricing, etc.)
- Works with internal customers to rectify problems and or contact Sales and Trade Departments for USHP for escalation/resolution.
- Meets service level agreement metrics for all DSA agreements. Associates are required to respond to inquiries within set time limits to abide by established customer agreements.
- Reconciles outstanding collectible deductions to be resolved through the quarterly DSA payout.
- Manages DSA specialty credits in GBS with the Center using the mass billing tool.
- Works with team members and other teams on prioritizing workload assignments, and scheduling and participation on inter-team departmental project initiatives and process improvements as needed, requested, or assigned.
- Supports AR in ensuring all documentation to identify deductions is received in a timely manner.
- Provides detailed reporting, knowledge, and expertise as SME within Order to Cash, and to the different streams within USHP.
- Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Independently manages a portfolio of accounts.
- Collects open invoices, invalid deductions & balances with currency/aged priority.
- Manages discrepancies, credits, and varied other customer account related issues through effective communication with internal and external customers.
- Follows closely DSA agreements with customers and our SLA agreements with business unit(s) we service.
- Performs analysis as needed to ensure we protect the financial AR assets to the best of our ability striving for continuous process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Accounting or Finance and two (2) years of experience OR High School Diploma and six (6) years of experience in credit risk & receivables management.
- Experience in high volume return management preferred.
- Strong cross functional collaboration skills, strategic understanding, result orientation, strong process design and implementation skills required.
