General Summary:
The Medical Affairs Associate Medical Director provides medical leadership in the assigned region as local technical resource in the assigned to Cystic Fibrosis (CF). This role will provide an uncompromising commitment to patients and will ensure the flawless execution of CF medical plans.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides fair and balanced medical information and education to health care professionals and payers that support the safe and effective use of Vertex drugs in the appropriate patients
- Builds trust through transparent collaboration with health care professionals, patient associations and payers
- Develops collaborative networks inside and outside Vertex to access best ideas, expertise and capabilities
- Fosters patient access to Vertex drugs, by supporting the commercial organization in the preparation/review of reimbursement dossiers and presenting scientific data as required to key stake holders in the access process
- Develops and strengthens country medical affairs credibility within and outside of the organization
- Builds reputation and visibility of Vertex at the country level by the provision of high standard medical information and education both internally and externally
- Participates in International Medical Affairs Team meetings, bringing back best practice from country and proposing processes improvement for MA activities
- Fosters best practice exchange among the country medical staff
- Contributes to the local Brand Team, representing the TA (scientific and medical expertise) and ensuring all activities address patient well-being and respect data integrity
- Ensures compliance at country level with company policies, medical affairs SOPs, GCP and ICH
- Assesses local promotional materials and ensures that all claims are fully supported by scientific data, and are presented in an accurate, fair and balanced manner
- Provides appropriate medical local representation for the management of major issues such as product withdrawals
- Ensures self and other country medical staff have the required skills to identify AEs and assess causality of PV cases
- Contributes to managing external communication when significant safety issues arise, with the wellbeing of patients being the ultimate goal
- As a people manager within the organization, may have financial accountabilities and human resource responsibilities for assigned staff.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of statistical methods
- Experience in writing or reviewing scientific communications
- Cognizant of local reimbursement processes, of product-specific pricing issues and understanding of required medical contribution to pricing/reimbursement dossiers
- Knowledge of key Marketing and Market Research terms and modes of analysis
- Track record in effectively managing risk and compliance
- Good understanding of the pharmaceutical business
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with external experts within TA
- Experience in designing, planning and executing medical education and communication activities
- Familiarity with clinical trial processes across different phases of development and resolving clinical trial-related issues
Education and Experience:
- MD, DO or equivalent ex-US medical degree
- Typically requires 8 years of experience and 2 years of supervisory/management experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Pay Range:
$208,100 - $312,200Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
