You will join BI X as a Senior Technology Scout, working closely with Business and IT teams to identify, validate, and advance cutting-edge digital innovations and technologies aligning with  Boehringer's business strategy. This role will drive tangible impact by bridging the gap between emerging technologies and strategic market needs, delivering high-value opportunities that enhance Boehringer's footprint in Digital Health.

As a Senior IT Technology Scout, you will play a pivotal role in shaping BI X's success by identifying and assessing opportunities from the external ecosystem (eg. startup- and academic networks).  We  are looking for a professional with deep expertise in digital health innovation, a strong understanding of emerging technology ecosystems, experience in in working within pharma, health or digital health companies, and a proven ability to foster strategic partnerships.

Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $170,000 to $269,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Senior Technology Scout leverages expertise in Pharma, Digital Health, and Digital Therapeutics in US market to align Boehringer's strategic goals with digital opportunities.
  • Builds strong relationships with senior management to identify and translate strategic objectives into actionable digital initiatives
  • Acts as the central point of contact for digital trend scouting at Boehringer, managing and prioritizing the portfolio of ongoing scouting activities
  • Screens and evaluate major digital trends for their relevance and future impact on Boehringer, collaborating with stakeholders to define actionable strategies. Advises senior stakeholders from various business units on the goals and added value of external innovation and scouting activities
  • Oversees and supports complex scouting requests from Boehringer's stakeholders, conducting in-depth research on digital opportunities, preparing actionable recommendations, and facilitating next steps such as partnerships
  • Builds and expands Boehringer's external innovation network in US by fostering relationships with accelerators, incubators, academic institutions, startups and industry events. Initiate follow-up conversations to drive new digital initiatives and position Boehringer as a leader in Digital Health innovation
  • Drives the build-up of a Boehringer-wide digital innovation network and develops engaging collaboration formats that help to shape a global scouting community with close cooperation
  • Drives the adoption of open innovation, scouting and partnering within BI X and Boehringer. Acts as mentor and coach and helps to develop the skill set of other colleagues

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or equivalent required.
  • Five-plus (5+) years of relevant work experience.
  • Innovative technologist with a proven track record in startup collaboration, emerging tech evaluation, and scalable product development.
  • Strong experience in assessing feasibility and scalability of innovative ideas and potential for business integration.
  • Skilled in identifying  risks early, managing stakeholders across complex organizations, and driving data-informed decisions.
  • Ability to apply business tools, techniques, and principles of business design, modeling, and evidence generation, for product development and commercialization.
  • Adept at business modeling, go-to-market strategy, and cross-functional team leadership. 
  • Brings strong research capabilities and a growth mindset to fuel innovation and commercialization.
  • Familiar with generative AI in large organizations in healthcare / pharmaceutical or related industries.
  • Professional level English communication skills (Verbal and Written)

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

  • 7 years experience in digital Healthcare Technology preferred.
  • Ideal candidate will  excel in scouting and evaluating technologies and  show potential to take on additional roles in the organization (eg. UX researcher, agile Coach, Product Manager, etc.).
  • This position is perfect for someone who thrives in collaborative environments, is eager to expand their skill set, and is passionate about contributing holistically to the team's success.


Eligibility Requirements:
*    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
*    Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
