The Central Receiving and Inventory Management Department is responsible for receiving all equipment and furnishings shipped to the university, maintain and manage two inventory control data systems, maintain and manage the space inventory data system, manage the campus shredding program, manages moving services, and the storage of surplus property.
Position Summary
The Central Receiving and Inventory Management Department is responsible for receiving all equipment and furnishings shipped to the university, maintain and manage two inventory control data systems, maintain and manage the space inventory data system, manage the campus shredding program, manages moving services, and the storage of surplus property.The Storekeeper IV is responsible for assisting the general operation of Central Receiving & Stockroom which includes stock maintenance, inventory, and delivery, while ensuring customer service. The Storekeeper IV is responsible for assisting the general operation of Moving Services and will serve as supervisor in the absence of the Moving Services Manager. This position requires a high level of organization, adherence to safety procedures and attention to detail while providing quality customer service to all campus constituents. The successful candidate must possess the ability to support a variety of campus-wide requests and the ability to effectively handle several projects simultaneously.
12 month, full time, AFSCME position
Tour of Duty: Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm (Saturday and Sundays as days off)
*Initial assignment only. Subject to change according to institutional needs.

Essential Duties
1. Unpacks and examines incoming goods to verify quality, quantity and condition of goods for conformance to specifications, including counting, weighing and/or sorting the incoming articles.2. Stores goods, supplies and equipment in appropriate storage containers according to size, shape and type.
3. Marks identifying codes, figures or letters on articles and attaches tags to articles for identification purpose.
4. Receive and enter data into both the fixed asset and consumable inventory control tracking systems.
5. Issues supplies, materials and equipment to users in accordance with established procedures.
6. Maintains records and logs of items received, issued and shipped including description of articles, type and other identifying information in accordance with established procedures.
7. Takes physical inventory of supplies and equipment to determine actual amounts on hand, to review and/or reconcile stock records to detect spoilage, damage or variances in quantity.
8. Performs related duties such as loading and unloading items to and from trucks; maintaining general appearance of stockroom; weighing, materials and equipment to other locations using hand trucks.
9. Reviews requisitions, invoices, orders and other records to determine resources required to meet shipping and receiving needs, to determine availability of goods and to ensure accuracy and completeness of documents.
10. Evaluate storekeeping activities in order to determine effectiveness and to make recommendations concerning changes as needed.
11. Provide on-the-job training for employees of lower grade(s).
12. Review storeroom records for accuracy of information, compliance with agency procedures and to determine stock levels.
13. Assist the Moving Services Manager with daily work assignments, including, loading and unloading equipment from BSU work vehicles, general moving, emptying shredding bins and preparing them for delivery, building and shrink wrapping pallets of freight in preparation for campus deliveries, pallet jacking freight in and out of work trucks, and organizing University Event equipment in the Central Receiving warehouse.
14. Operate the warehouse reach fork truck. The successful candidate will need to be trained and apply for a Hoisting Operators License with the Department of Public Safety.
15. Confer with superiors in order to provide information and resolve problems

Required Qualifications
1. Applicants must have (A) at least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in storekeeping work in a storeroom, stockroom or warehouse, the major duties of which included receiving, storing and issuing supplies and equipment, and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.2. Ability to understand and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines governing assigned unit activities.
3. Ability to make arithmetical computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) with speed and accuracy.
4. Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.
5. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
6. Ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes and/or symbols.
7. Ability to gather information by examining records and documents.
8. Ability to assemble items of information in accordance with established procedures.
9. Ability to maintain accurate records.
10. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others.
11. Ability to deal tactfully with others.
12. Ability to exercise sound judgment.
13. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
14. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
15. Skill in the operation of materials handling equipment used in storekeeping such as forklifts, hand trucks, dollies, etc.
16. Knowledge of the types and uses of materials handling equipment used in storekeeping.
17. Knowledge of the standard methods and techniques for handling and storing hazardous products and fragile, durable and perishable goods.
18. Knowledge of standard procedures, methods and materials used in packaging materials and supplies for shipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher) strongly desired.Working knowledge of Outlook.
Working knowledge of the Schooldude consumable inventory tracking system.
Experience in consumable and/or fixed asset inventory management and reporting.
Experience working in a customer service driven environment.
Experience working in a central receiving and warehouse environment, including, shrink wrapping pallets, breaking down and building pallets of freight inventory, picking orders, working on a warehouse rolling ladder, operating an electric loading dock, operating an electric pallet jack, operating a manual pallet jack, unloading and loading trucks, lifting heavy objects, and receiving goods.
Experience working with BSU student workers in a leadership role.
Experience operating fork trucks.
