Job Summary:
The position will work within the Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T) Device operations group. The CMS&T-Device group is responsible for development and scale up activities for various device programs within Vertex.
Key Responsibilities:
The student Intern/Coop will be supporting device related activities supporting the T1D / CF / IgAN device programs. Job responsibilities include
- Prototyping and sample preparation / build to perform mechanical testing on the device
- Fixture design / redesign to improve the experimental apparatus
- Design of Experiment to support Proof-of-concept and optimization studies
- Conducting testing and developing characterization methods
- Draft test protocols and reports for engineering studies
- Data analysis using Minitab to assess process performance and to identify opportunities for process improvement
- Working with external partners on packaging design and verification/validation activities
- Design Verification testing for CF/ IgAN / T1D devices
- Supporting Human Factors and clinical studies
Qualifications:
- B.S / M.S / PhD in Biomedical / Mechanical / Industrial / Chemical Engineering
- Experience in statistical data analysis (Nice to have)
- Working knowledge of CAD design (e.g., Solidworks)
- Previous medical device Coop/Intern experience (Nice to have)
- Previous experience with GxP documentation (Nice to have)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask to effectively manage multiple activities and projects
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Access to car for limited travel between Boston and Providence (Nice to have)
