Description: Follow detailed instructions, routine procedures, and other oral or written instructions to transport personnel, parts, equipment, materials, mail, etc. between Sikorsky plants; usually on a regularly scheduled basis or when dispatched on demand.
Transport items to and from various other locations such as railroads stations, airport and trucking terminals, post offices, supplier facilities, etc.
Make sure all government regulations related to hazardous materials movement are followed.
Make both local and distant trips.
Maintain drivers log to record all trips; showing destination, mileage, and time.
Check assigned vehicle prior to first trip each day; registration, insurance, and emission certificates current, fluids and tire pressure restored as required, cleanliness, etc.
Promptly prepare reports on involvement in any accident or development of mechanical difficulties with vehicle.
Load and unload mail, stationery supplies in small packages.
Assist in the loading and unloading of interplant and intradepartmental deliveries.
Load and unload material with the use of material handling equipment, i.e. fork truck when material handlers are not available.
Assist material handlers to move materials to and from transfer station or storage.
Usually check items being transported for damage and check quantity against accompanying paperwork.
Take vehicle to garage or vendor for periodic vehicle maintenance, inspection, emissions, or cleaning, and make minor emergency repairs on road trips such as changing tires and tightening loose wires nuts and bolts, etc.
As directed perform other similar or related duties.
Perform operator checklist as required.
Contribute to the overall effectiveness of equipment by performing operator required upkeep.
Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety.
Segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
Refer only unusual conditions to Working Leader or supervisor.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires ability to read and write, and to understand shipping and receiving forms. Understand specific written or oral instruction pertaining to work and use maps to identify and locate routes and terminals and have a knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) and Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) regulations and governing laws and regulations for equipment.
Minimum 4 years highs school or equivalent.
Must have current driver's license or CDL as required.
Over 1 year experience or equivalent SIK experience.
Desired Skills:
Regularly handle heavy parts, boxes, and crates to load and unload vehicles. Handle very heavy boxes or parts jointly with hoists. Also handle light and average weight parts. Moderate physical effort required to handle vehicle in heavy traffic. Continuous attention required while while driving, loading vehicle correctly, and checking parts and materials being transported.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week
