Job Description:

The FMR LLC Legal Department is seeking to hire a senior attorney to join the litigation team.

Vice President Associate General Counsel

The Role

The litigation team is responsible for litigation, regulatory investigations, internal reviews, escalations, and business risk assessments, across Fidelity's entire suite of businesses, including asset management, workplace investing, institutional services, wealth and brokerage, intellectual property, real estate, tax and general commercial litigation common to large complex financial services firms. We work collaboratively with teams comprised of in-house lawyers and staff, outside counsel, internal subject matter experts, and other resources to achieve favorable resolutions of legal disputes and litigation risks.

This position currently requires on-site attendance every other week (for five days each on-site week), and in-office attendance on the non-on-site weeks as necessary (please note that attendance requirements could change in the future).

The Expertise and Skills you Bring

  • J.D with eight-plus years as a practicing litigation attorney, with significant experience representing financial services firms in a variety of contexts, including state and federal courts, SEC, FINRA and state regulators, internal investigations, and risk-based guidance for business decision-making.

  • Law firm experience required.

  • In-house legal experience is ideal.

  • Experience working with corporate control functions, such as compliance, risk, internal audit and cyber security is useful.

  • Must have extensive 'first chair' responsibility for directing and being accountable for matters.

  • You have the ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires balancing multiple, competing tasks simultaneously, often transitioning between diverse and unrelated subject matters daily.

  • You are able to work in a team context, managing various views and building consensus with a range of lawyers and non-lawyers across the company.

  • You are highly organized, ambitious and self-directed, but also comfortable with reporting lines that require obtaining approvals from senior leaders and regular reporting out on your matters.

  • You possess strong communications and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and efficiently to non-lawyers.

Note: Fidelity is not providing immigration sponsorship for this position

The base salary range for this position is $140,000-$249,000 per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.

We offer a wide range of benefits to meet your evolving needs and help you live your best life at work and at home. These benefits include comprehensive health care coverage and emotional well-being support, market-leading retirement, generous paid time off and parental leave, charitable giving employee match program, and educational assistance including student loan repayment, tuition reimbursement, and learning resources to develop your career. Note, the application window closes when the position is filled or unposted.

Please be advised that Fidelity's business is governed by the provisions of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Investment Company Act of 1940, ERISA, numerous state laws governing securities, investment and retirement-related financial activities and the rules and regulations of numerous self-regulatory organizations, including FINRA, among others. Those laws and regulations may restrict Fidelity from hiring and/or associating with individuals with certain Criminal Histories.

Fidelity's hybrid working model blends the best of both onsite and offsite work experiences. Working onsite is important for our business strategy and our culture. We also value the benefits that working offsite offers associates. Most hybrid roles require associates to work onsite every other week (all business days, M-F) in a Fidelity office.
