Full Job Description
The Assistant Director works with the Director and the Associate Dean to determine strategic direction in fulfillment of the Center’s mission and potential new sources of revenue. The Assistant Director contributes to the strategic direction of the BU Center for Continuing Education (BU CCE) through grant proposal development and ideation; medical education company partner engagement; relationship management with funders, vendors, and potential educational partners such as associations and societies; new program offering ideas; and staffing assignments in consultation with the Director(s). The Assistant Director supervises four direct reports, two Senior Operations Managers with program portfolios – the Senior Program Operations Manager, Projects and the Senior Operations Manager, Accreditation and Outcomes; the Program Manager for Quality Improvement and Educational Programs; and the Senior Program Manager, Grant Funding. The Assistant Director participates in high level and detailed discussions related to the Center’s finances. The Assistant Director consults with the Boston University Office of General Counsel (OGC) on legal matters on behalf of BU CCE.
The Assistant Director independently manages quality improvement (QI) projects on behalf of BU CCE and Boston Medical Center (BMC), supports the mission of the BU CCE and BMC Quality and Patient Safety jointly founded Quality Improvement Hub (QI Hub), co-manages the Improvement Leadership Academy (ILA), and manages other grant-funded continuing education programs. The Assistant Director assures that all Maintenance of Certification Part IV (MOC IV), continuing education (CE) accreditation, and program management requirements are met as required for these programs. The Assistant Director will apply the knowledge of quality improvement tools and methodologies on projects both as direct manager of projects and as consultants on projects led by clinical leaders across the organization.
The person in this position oversees submission of proposals into funder online portals in support of educational partners programs, as well as in support of our new and on-going activities, with the assistance of the Administrative Coordinator. The Assistant Director oversees the grant tracking system including the monitoring, reconciliation, and reporting for all grants submitted to pharmaceutical funders. This person participates in preparation of required reporting and data submissions to the ACCME’s data reporting system – PARS. This person tracks incoming payments and disbursements from grantors as well as payments to and from partners associated with many of these programs. The Assistant Director manages the IRB submission process for BU CCE. The Assistant Director works with OGC on business agreements and Letters of Agreement with funders on behalf of the BU CCE projects.
