About the Role
Apex Systems is seeking a highly experienced HIPAA Security Subject Matter Expert to lead the strategic development, implementation, and management of privacy and data security policies in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). This role is critical to safeguarding protected health information (PHI) across our global healthcare operations.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee the development of HIPAA compliance strategies across business units and digital health platforms
• Serve as the primary advisor on HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules for executive leadership, legal, IT, and compliance teams
• Evaluate risk assessments and audits, ensuring effective safeguards around electronic PHI (ePHI)
• Collaborate cross-functionally to implement administrative, physical, and technical controls that meet HIPAA and cybersecurity standards
• Develop and deliver training and awareness programs across the organization
• Monitor regulatory updates, and guide remediation efforts when gaps or violations are identified
• Liaise with internal legal, compliance, and security teams during investigations or incidents involving PHI

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Health Informatics, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Experience working in Medical Device or Pharmaceuticals
• 7+ years of experience in data security, healthcare privacy, or HIPAA compliance
• Deep knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, NIST, and ISO frameworks
• Proven experience implementing security controls within a medical device or health technology environment
• Professional certification strongly preferred: CISSP, HCISPP, CIPP/US, or equivalent
• Excellent communication, risk management, and leadership skills
