Full Job Description

Our Laboratory seeks a research technician to assist in on-going research studies investigating brain structure and physiology of cortical pathways. Experimental approaches include immunohistochemical methods, confocal and electron microscopy. Analyses conducted include digital imaging, quantitative microscopy, data processing and graphic presentation of data. Position entails performing tissue processing, microscopy, and image and data analyses. In addition, major responsibilities include basic wet laboratory and managerial tasks such as making and organizing solutions and reagents, database management, documents and orders. This is a great opportunity for someone wishing to be engaged in diverse aspects of the research and to continue to learn in an active neuroscience research environment.

Skills

A bachelors or masters degree in life sciences, chemistry, or related field, is required. The position is funded from NIH grants and a minimum commitment of 2 years is required. For highly qualified applicants, looking for more permanent laboratory technician positions, there is potential for growth to be promoted to a Lab Manager position or train to become a Senior Electron Microscopy Technician if desired. Organizational skills and computer proficiency a must. Experience with histological procedures, microscopy and digital image processing desired. Salary is dependent on level of experience.
